When Sharon first met Paula, Sharon saw that Paula had an uncanny gift in understanding hair color. Sharon excitedly asked Paula, "How do you know this (about hair coloring)?". Paula responded, "This is what I love to do." It was real talent and an understanding of coloring hair that Sharon saw in Paula. And, well, the rest is history!

The mission was to have Paula receive her Cosmetology License as quickly as possible so that Paula could forward her passion at the Studio after apprenticing with Sharon.

Paula came on board to apprentice while attending Beauty School and immediately launched her Hair Coloring career after receiving her Licence.

Paula is a wonderful asset to the Studio. Paula is fun, very wise for her age, and naturally able to assert her creativity with ease. Her work is excellent, creative and original.

Below Paula answers 5 questions pertaining to her Hair Career.

My mom was a hairstylist when I was a kid; I remember going to work with her and having a great time watching, and even sweeping up hair for quarters. I loved it there!

As I got older, I started really noticing my infatuation with peoples' hairstyles. It was always a feature I first noticed.

I began doing hair color on all my friends and myself early on in high school. I was good! Everyone noticed our hair. It was the talk of the school!

I soon realized I was in the wrong town for this gig.....so in 2004 I headed to Los Angeles to begin my journey in HAIR. I met Sharon very shortly after my move.....and so began my dream.

I have always considered myself "artistic"....I have been a musician since the age of 9, and long admired every aspect of the arts. I feel that I have found a wonderful avenue to express my creativity through coloring and shaping hair.

Every day I get to create something new! This is my first favorite aspect of coloring and shaping hair. I love giving every one of my Clients a Hair Color and design which far exceeds their expectations! When I see my Clients light up, it is the most rewarding feeling!

The second aspect is that the hair industry is forever changing and growing. This is the second most rewarding aspect of my Hair Career.

The third aspect which seems to be the cherry on top is that I get to meet so many interesting people. Plus, I get to work with Sharon who has become one of my best friends.

Tell me, how does it get better??? I love what I do. And, I love who I work with.

STYLING?
I see my styling to be ultimately customized to highly compliment each individual. I create very original designs. Each person is unique and special, so becomes their hair. I love making people feel more beautiful. I feel that I am giving them something wonderful to take with them into their everyday lives.

COLORING?
Coloring is my forte... the way I color hair is very precise, unique, and way ahead of the trends.

I have put a tremendous amount of time into understanding the way hair coloring 'works' so I feel I have something most colorists don't offer - Art and Science combined! As these two aspects meet, I can create anything!

I ensure I always create a complimentary hair color. During the initial consultation I make certain that I know what the Client wants to receive. I give each Client what they ask for.

SERVICING OTHERS?
Working with people comes natural to me...

I feel like I am just helping each person to feel great, and of course, look more beautiful. I have FUN with people, and they have fun with me. Together my Clients and I create original recipes for great hair!

My Clients and I have a lot of fun together and we get along well, so I feel that I also deliver that something "extra"!

I welcome new Clients to join me at the Studio.

As a Cosmetologist, I want to educate Stylists and Clients alike.

I plan to always continue the growth of my passion in hair. I plan to own my own successful Salon in the future.

I want to continue to develop an increased "sense of self" for both myself and the Client as I deliver hair services to others.

Every day I aim to learn something new and to create a new relationship with each new Client.

It is this relationship that continues to increase and strengthen the foundation of my Hair Coloring and Styling Career.

I am funky, punky, edgy, and even extreme. I have punky hair and feel most comfortable when I'm freely expressing my own personal style with my hair color.

It's my artistic side that people see first, but once they get to know me they realize that I have the ability to create ANY look for ANY personality!

Whether it's extreme punk or natural looking hair color, I can create it!

I'm passionate about what I do because it comes so naturally to me.

When I first met Sharon she told me within 5 minutes of meeting that I had "it", "the gift".

I'm happy she recognized my talent because when I get the chance to take it "all the way" she's right there to applaud!

I like it when a new Client challenges me to create a very unique look! My response is always... "Bring it on!"
